Negotiations involving claims to undersea oil and natural gas fields in the Gulf of Thailand are dragging on for Thailand and Cambodia.
The two countries had opened negotiations in 1995 in a bid to tap into potentially rich reserves; the talks leading to a memorandum of understanding signed in 2001 by the Thai and Cambodian prime ministers.
The two countries agreed in principle to join in development and share profits from a total of eight blocks of petroleum fields in an overlapping claims area, but the agreement still needs approval of the Thai House of Representatives to comply with international treaty agreements.
Committees and working groups are working to seek an agreeable solution for the whole 26,000-square-kilometre area which is under dispute.

If you are not Southeast Asian I suggest taking some Southeast Asia history courses so you know the truth. But if you’re Thai, you are a cowardly scum liar. You can lie to others but you can not lie to youself. You know it. Be real!!!
You and your country will go down!! That is your worst nightmare.

Thailand and Cambodia trying to tie up oil contract
Thailand is greedy, stubborn, and disrespect to Cambodia. They invaded Cambodia in the past and now they do it again. They have no shame. They claim what Cambodia has any way they can by force or by manipulating. Khmer culture as well as Khmer land they steal. They are the nation of thief. They made up the history blindly to world that they are better nation than Cambodia.

Border Decarmation Needed!!!
Evidently, these so called overlapping area or white zone is all made up by the T-Gov which they refused to recognize Cambodia sovereignty. While performing the border decarmation, Cam must recognize the interest of its people, investments, territory, and must consider all aspects of border including sea & land. Cam need to have a 3rd independent advisor from China or France to observe the decarmation and make sure that its up to the international standard.
Work hard and your people will be rewarded and in turn, you’ll be rewarded for many years.

Share?
Oil field is located in the Gulf of Thailand, not in the Gulf of Cambodia. Why does Thai need to share?
|
JUST CURIOUS 08-29-08, 03:54 PM |
Gulf of Thailand. Sharing.
Gulf of Thailand is just of name it does not mean Thailand owns the whole Gulf.
American has oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico this does not mean Mexico owns all the oil in the Gulf of Mexico.
Why should Cambodia has to share if the oil is located within Cambodian sea boarders.

the conflict is not about nationalism but economic equity
Thailand has not invaded Cambodia for hundreds of years and is not invading Cambodia now. To describe the current negotiations in those terms is fueling racial hatred that the Khmer Rouge would clearly applaud and support. This is an economic issue that - with patience and wisdom - both countries and its needy people can benefit from. But not if the politics of age-old disputes holds the negotiations hostage.
Cambodia needs help in terms of investment capital to realize its worthy goals. Thailand also has significant needs, but has the benefit of having avoided the destructive consequences of 30 years of civil strife. It’s current reserves of investment capital can be helpful to the Khmer people if the unfortunate racial hatred between these “brother nations” can be put aside.
Economic equity between the two countries comes at a price, and one such cost will be the requirement for both people to put away childish and destructive hatreds that have been passed down from generation to generation. How these two worthy populations achieve that goal will be the measure of the political stature of its leaders.
My prayers and hopes go to the Khmer people - and to the equally deserving Thai - that they are up to this challenge in the 21st Century.

Another Border Decarmation also Needed on the Sea.
Absolutely, Cambodia and Thailand should not share and join any developments together. The border must be at the sea must be clearly defined. Once the border draw out at sea. One will see that major of the area and in the Gulf of Thailand will belong to Thailand due to the fact that Thailand had more coast line around the Gulf according to Internatinal Law. The issue then will be what access to the sea that Cambodia will have with Vietnam.

Oz Genius plan for great thai king.
Thais should learn from Australia, send in the troops with a law and order deputy US sheriff style, big noise about democracy . Therby ensuring the right government is in power. As in east timor.Oil and gas shares borders are then easily and “fairly” demarcated .East Timor government then signed up in a “fair” deal.
Any Kmer type temple near the border would make another good THAI Casino with a cut for the great kmer leaders wife. This income is sorely needed now as the cambodian forests have mostly been sold off already AS GLOBALISM IS MAKING GOOD PROGRESS UNDER HUN SEN.

All the oil under the Gulf of Thailand belongs to Thai.
I hope that the Thai House of Representatives will claim that.

So Amazed!
I don’t want to hate or want be a racist or anything like that. It’s just that I find how the Thais love to be ignorant about their past. Most Thais know very little about their true past I wonder they are being taught in school. There are so many thing the Thais adopted and steal from Cambodia but will are stubborn to accept the fact. But I’m going to point out a few
1. The Necklace/ The Mantra
If anyone who been to Thailand or even been to a Thais restaurant I’m sure you seen most Thais people wear the necklace around their neck. Some even go over board by wearing at least 5-8 on them. But if you were to ask them to read the inscription (which are black magic spell)on the pendant they havn’t a clue on what it mean. Because almost all the writing are Cambodia writing in Pali phrase invent by Cambodian black magice master way back in time. And the Thais just copy them on those necklace pendant because if they don’t translate into Thais writing the spell are no good. Yes some are in Thais but the most sort after pendants are the old one and most of them are written in Cambodia writing. The same thing goes for the Mantra that they use to hang on the wall in their restaurant almost of them are Cambodian writing and spell.. These two object the Thais hold dearly to as part of their culture. Kind of a bump if they truely see the truth of it.
Even the Thai palace design is base on the design of Angkor wat. Their royal court ritual is base on Cambodia royal court up to the crowning of a new king they use a Brahmin priest to crown their kings. Cambodia invent this ritual since the birth of the Cambodian Kingdom in year 1 AD, nearly 1200 years before Thailand even have their first state. The Thai writing are base on Cambodian Alphabet. Again i don’t want sound ignorant myself but i just find it amusing that most Thais think they are high and mighty and look down upon Cambodian people, but while the fact is most of their culture own it existent to Cambodia...Wake up stop embarrassing yourself even more. Sooner or later the truth will be out of the bag.
Sure Cambodia maybe a dirt poor nation at the moment, but it wasn’t by choice, but due to outsider incursion with our country. We’ve been at war for the last 60 years while most of the south east asian country prosper, and that including Thailand. Now that we at peace we are already making an amazing recovery. Outside investment to our country isn’t much but many country see Cambodia as the next logical choice to invest in south east asia. We have plenty of land and the country isn’t over populated like our neighboring country. All we need is infa-structure and once the country is rebuild we can reclaim our title again as The Pearl of South East Asia.
peace
